To answer this promontory I am going to explore the history of the young Service and research why certain policies were made to serve well young people and the outcome of these policies. Then reflect on the policies we are adding with today and see how the Importance of the role of policy in influencing the development of greater Equality in society and its relevance on my Youth Work Practice today. Therefore To open this question up is to jell what is Youth Work?. This one question posed a number of times at the Blankenberge Seminar, it seemed to have considerable reverberance for many of the participants: Why cant youth toyers demarcate what they do more than clearly - and more credibly? Youth work through history as many definitions when the Albemarle bill was written Youth Work was defined as a dynamic Activity that has grown out of, and is constantly influenced by Evolving Social, Economic, Political Cultural Trends [Lectures notes 2010]. Mark Smith (1999, 2002) defines youth work in five key elements these elements cover the last light speed years of Youth Work.
The five elements are as follows:
concentrate on young people.
Emphasising voluntary participation and relationship.
Committing to association.
Being hail-fellow-well-met and informal, and acting with integrity [page 51]
Being concerned with the education and, more broadly, the welfare of young people.
